My Kawasaki ER6F/Ninja 650R Looking For Good Home

Postby andy_coupe78 » Wed Dec 26, 2012 11:27 pm

Full details @ http://kawasakier6.blogspot.com/2012/12/my-kawasaki-er6fninja-650r-looking-for.html?showComment=1356534437632#c1580320358368860815.

To summarize, details of Green Hornet is as per the following :

Name and Model : Kawasaki ER6F/Ninja 650R
Colour : Kawasaki Lime Green
Mileage : circa 13,000 km
Status : CBU ("Kenderaan Import Baru" - can check from vehicle grant card)
No plate : Wilayah 3-digit tendered no plate
Accessories :
1) MRA Germany windscreen (made in Germany)
2) Shogun sliders
3) Givi Italy side panniers colour-coded (made in Italy)
4) Givi Italy topbox colour-coded (made in Italy)
5) Akrapovic exhaust (made in Slovenia)
6) Radiator protector
7) BMC Italy air filter (made in Italy)
8 ) Acumen UK gear indicator (made in UK)
9) Caliper theft protector sets
10) Branded riding jacket and pants set, and matching leather gloves

Bike is newly-serviced and runs like a dream. As good as new condition, and idling beats some newer ER6 engines even (well, that's what my mechanic said). If you get the above accessories, you would have to allocate more than RM10,000 but on Green Hornet, it's all complete and no further upgrades are necessary by my reckoning.

Viewing can be done at Mont Kiara/Sri Hartamas after working hours.

So, feel free to make me an offer that I can't resist, to get yourself this dream bike. E-mail me with your offer and contact no. at toyotaharrier240g@gmail.com and I'd revert soonest possible.

Hehe, no lah, a reader of my blog asked if I would like to take over his bike. I have always have a soft spot for that model- I supposed it qualifies as a modern classic these days and is gonna cost a pretty penny in the TLC department as opposed to the bullet-proof Kwek engine; so see if there are any takers for my Green Hornet as I build up the necessary war chest to purchase, restore and thereafter maintain that timeless beauty. See first lah, it's still a battle between mind and soul. I haven't felt this way since I bought the Fiat Coupe umpteen years back. You know the feeling- you know you shouldn't but you're drawn to it like a bug to fire.

Fingers crossed, am looking at Mito's bigger brother  Since Naza markets Ducati these days, do you know if they carry parts for them bikes from the nineties?

If all goes well, it's a 916. Have always admired this bike since it's debut  In fact, I nearly got the Mito when it was launched as the Malaysian edition, for the 916 look-alike feel. The 916 is pretty rare in my books; but funnily enough, there has been a few for sale on Mudah recently.

LOL, that's a good one. So I supposed I'll best be prepared to get grease under my nails if I'm gonna be tinkering with the 916, eh? But don't you agree that it simply looks a million bucks?

Image

On an unrelated note, how do you guys sell your 2-wheelers in the past? I seem to be getting a fair bit of interest but most want to part-exchange another bike, or sign an individual undertaking for making monthly instalments, etc?

- tamburini's 916 is pure design genius. There was a unit (or maybe its still there) , on display at the Smithsonian (iirc) as a piece of design art.

- the bike is achingly beautiful , everything in place.

- but ... haha .... here's the but : to find a good example with all parts in good condition , is gonna be hard. I remember going to Welly to see a SP3 (the kicked up version of the 916) and it was nice , but it looked its age. Everything that could be worn was worn , this when a 916 should really just be perfect.

- and i learned that the bike in the picture is almost never gonna be the bike that you see in person.

- more so when owners are asking pretty high prices for machinery that is close to 20 years old.

- 2 sen : take your time and hold onto your money tight.

- as for selling your bike : haha , welcome to the world of selling big bikes. 90 % of the people who call got no money but got banyak ber-angan. Those people who got money will be pushing a bargain or they'll simply buy new. Those who really got money will buy cash.

- its just the way our market / society is vis big bikes. People ask about things like max loan berapa , instalmen berapa .... aiya ... if you have to ask max-loan-berapa , buy a smaller bike lah , and learn to feed your kids better.

- good luck Andy !

You said it to the Tee, Pistole. The requests ranged from so many different types- thank goodness I didn't place my hp no or I'll be really busy being an operator. At least, I can just e-mail back at my own convenience. I supposed I'm looking for real buyers like some of us here- we only buy bikes that we could afford, we go look, we buy a bank draft, we pay and get the bike. End of the day, everyone also smiling. Win-win situation.

I have one chap who sounded promising, came in an expensive SUV to view the bike, and loved Green Hornet to bits. Then asked for a monthly instalment of RM500 over 5 years (his wife won't let him buy a bike so he could only use his monthly petty cash); during time which he doesn't mind that the bike be in my name still for "my peace of mind". I told him that I mind actually.

The 916 owner wants to part his bike in the sub-fifties. I know that I'll have to dig deeper for maintenance thereafter, whereas the Green Hornet has been reliable as heck from Day One. Hmmm...

LOL!! What's with these people and "sambung bayar" shit? I tot it only happens to people buying cars that was way beyond their means. Motorbike pun ada? And the part where "his wife won't let him buy a bike" is what I really don't understand. If she doesn't let him buy one then where is he gonna stash the bike when he gets it? Hide it in the back of his SUV?

That was 100% a conman. mate 916 not easy to ride, i hv ridden one,`1st small belly or no belly is a must. very poor turning circle. strong back needed,
otherwise its a beaut.

All I can afford is 20k cash....

Hi mate, you're right about the 916- after trying it, it seems that the 916 is more of a young man's game, or someone with a chiropractor at his disposal. Looks like I am binning the 916 idea for now :-''

Sorry mate, RM20k is a tad too low for me. I already have an offer for RM31k, but the young chap requested for a month to raise the rest of the cash vide a RM28k personal loan. I'll see how it goes, mate.

there are ways to make the 916 series bearable. I was chatting with Tajul over the weekend. Some 916 owners change to taller handlebars, and a comfier seat...i.e. Corbin seat or something that suits your fancy.

For handlebars, take a look at the following link;

https://www.helibars.com/product/ducati ... handlebars

This gives you a more upright riding position and less stress on your arms and shoulders, more relaxed riding position. With regards to windblast, Tajul says get a taller screen, solves the problem. He bought the helibars on his previous bike, the Suzuki SV1000S, and installed a Puig touring windscreen...

- Yo Andy.

- How is that fellow going with his loan ?

- maybe better to send him an email setting out the "position" , ie , you've received X deposit (refundable/non-refundable) from him pending him getting a loan to finance the balance and you've agreed to hold the bike for him until XX and the mileage will not exceed XYZ in the meantime.

- saves everyone heartache/argument later.

Yup, signed that on that day and just waiting. Anyway, agreed to extend him a month to get his financing and have put on-hold any current viewing. Seems to generate a fair bit of interest, this bike; just that no real cash buyers with cash on hand. I thought now is after-bonus month, should be loaded pockets everywhere
