Best tyres for coupe

- wide 16 inch tyres are all hard to find and expensive ( iirc , you're basically down to things like the Toyo T1R , and semi slicks like the R888 , and maybe the unobtanium A048 Advans ).

- better for you chaps to upsize to 17 inch rims and not have to worry about tyres anymore. Esp if you plan to keep the car.

cheers

Upsizing.. that's another can of worms.

I just turned down a set of Azev As because I prefer the looks of the standard coupe rims.

Just grabbed probably the last set of ready stock 225/45/16 FK452s in KL after a few phone calls. Gives me a year to figure out how to bring in those Azev U rims from Germany.

Eating my words big time.

Whoever's in the market for Falken FK452 donuts can go to Stamford Taman Maluri on Tuesday. Decided not to take it.

What kind of pressures are you all running on 215/45/17 tyres? Same as 16s? 39 front 32 rear?

Right now still using the ones that came with the rims.

Next week going to see what Stamford has to offer since I already paid for the Falkens. Don't think they will refund.

Anyone on the look-out for 225/45/16 or 205/50/16 in FK452 guise, head over to Stamford Tyres Taman Maluri. Probably the only remaining stock in KL. Go straight there. If you call and ask for it, they'll say no stock. Weird.

aya, worst come to worst just use 205/50/16....hahahaha plenty of this type of size.

Look like this will be my next size instead if i can't secure 225/45/16 in the next few months.

I hated the fk452 though.....farking tyre rumble like a bad wheel bearings after a while.

205/50/16 quite hard also, but easier & more choices than 225/45/16.

215/45/17 down the road also can find.

did u look only in kl/pj/klang , or tried rest of the other states? huhuhuhuh i sanggup drive down to which ever state to get the 225/45/16 tires la. I still love the look of the stock rims on the coop though. A bit hesitant to change to 17's. Unless I can get one these rims into our Bolehland! \:D/

Just to update this thread:

I picked up a set of used group buy 17s from MLM this morning. He also hooked me up with a kedai in Kelana Jaya that fitted a set of 215/45 Goodyear Asy 2 to the rims at a VERY good price (cheaper than Klang prices). This might be a pang yao price, so if interested, best to get in touch with MLM. Great service from them as well, with nice extras like quality valves and metal caps.

On the short drive home after installing, first impressions are that the ride is MORE comfortable than the RE001 205/50/16 tyres they replaced, which I was not expecting. Need to run them in a bit before I do any proper traction/grip testing, but I have high hopes.

Pang, don't want to be rude, but I suggest you convert that UR ARB into a walking stick or something. See this thread:

viewtopic.php?f=10&t=26142

And it didn't happen just once - at least two people have had the SAME problem. If the failure happens mid-corner, as it is bound to, someone could die.

As for me, I have a Whiteline ARB in the store that I just need to install.

yup, am using the assy2 on the coupe... sucks big time... everytime i see a corner, i get worried... when u turn, the car feels like understeering due to the tyre flexing and then suddenly it'll turn into the corner... easy to turn too much... tomorrow going to swap tyres between the 2 cars... gonna put the potenza RE002 on the coupe...

I am fine with Asy2. Outright grip feels good and just as much as the previous RE001.

I also felt tire wall flexed too much when I first bought it, but it was due to pressures being too low. I filled to 40/35 and seems good.

40 front 35 rear? wont it be too bouncy? mine is 38 front and 32 rear also very bouncy but i like it. sigh if only roads in kl are as good as in japan.

Was quoted RM520 per piece for 215/45/17. RE002.

I am undecided between the R1R and R888. Hmmmm......which do you all suggest? I plan to track my car and occasional hill runs! Problem with the 888s are that I can't drive them on wet roads! Scary oooo! Someone suggested I take the R1Rs. How?
