Project 300.

Dedicated section just for the Fiat coupe owners!

Project 300.

Postby UlysseNuovo » Wed May 19, 2010 3:17 am

Yup, I bought a new turbo (GT2871R) about 3 to 4 weeks ago with the help of yellowtaxi. It is to replace my stock turbo that is protesting because I am overboosting at about 1.3 - 1.4 bar. Certain times when idling, I have white smoke spraying out like dengue mosquitos fogging :P

So, about 14 days ago, sent her in to TorqueGear to install the turbo, stainless steel manifold, downpipe (upper and lower), intercooler piping, front mounted intercooler, stainless steel induction pipe and to move the battery to the rear.

All of it was done except for the battery relocation when I collected her last Saturday.

Many more things to be done within this week itself. I will be sending her for installing AVC-R, fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, install the silicon hoses and tuning.

Tuning is the real big question mark. Been talking to a few I.A. old timers Coupe owner of which way to go. But then at the end I will have to decide ;) I am willing to try...

I thought I will not upgrade her power but gtec1 was the key to open the flood gates :P Once got a bit of power, you will want more

Got all the electronic bling bling into the Coupe. Moment of truth at about 2030 hrs. Dyno.

 210bhp at 0.51 boost. Something is not right. She is not boosting. So, tomorrow will be another day but not for sorting her out. So, 300 will have to wait. Duh!

maybe some connection hose to the apexi avcr not right. Thus you are getting only the base boost of 0.5 bar.

- ya ya.

- 0.5 bar is base boost (ie , the boost is being "controlled" by just
the spring in the wastegate-actuator).

- Ya, will bring it in to torque gear tomorrow or Monday to check the actuator.

- Thomas of GT Auto says that if base boost already 210bhp on wheels, then at 1 bar equals 420bhp? :P Hahaha.

- if so my internals will not take it then. :(

if ur getting base boost i dont think its the actuator at fault. sounds like something in the boost control circuit - the boost controller is letting all the pressure thru and the actuator opening is controlled by the actuator spring, not the boost controller.

GT2871R is supposed to be a 400hp turbo. dont overboost or ur gonna need new internals.

Redd, during dyno they tried removing the hose from the controller to see if that was at fault. Seems not though. Geesh, the old gremlin emerges again.

Installing the external wastegate. Tial. Checked the progress, almost done. Hopefully tomorrow it is done.

If you guys looking for Defi gauge, try Samurai, cheaper than what I got. Thanks to jedcoyxiicut for telling. It is cheaper by RM60 - RM80 per gauge. That is good savings.

Today, collected my Coupe, missed her so much :P.

Went to GT Auto to dyno. Thomas realise that something was not right as it boost to 1.5 bar. Found the problem Torque Gear did not complete the wastegate installation, hose went wrong place and a few holes no screw. But no big issue la.

Dyno went on after the quick fix......

And....
....
..
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.

.
300 achieved at 1.2 bar.

I am happy.

Now wait to see the fuel bill :P hahaha.

Redd,

I will post up sooooooon. Have to change computer ;) Fuelling is an issue, so, after this I will be popping in the "high fuelling" gtec1 and a few days time will dyno again.

With the Tial wastegate, it screams like it is going to explode :P

Hehehe.....1am project upgrade ecu at craven mamak. 15 minutes to swap the chip turn out to be 30 mins when we realise some screw driver needed is missing from my toolbox. So have to improvise....hahaha at least got the work done.

Curious onlooker was thinking, wah see lar, sport car also bonnet open. Buy some more Fiat [-(

UN must be worried....hopefully this gtfan don't screw up my ecu. Ha. Hopefully the gtec1 Higher Fueling will help him to boost safer.

1.2 bar should be sufficient although this turbo can easily take up higher boost :P

Gtfan,

Thanks for your eletronic engineering assistance. Next time, shall do it in the day

The gtec1 higher fuelling must have helped. Now i get the 'blurp blurp boom' sound (rich). Shall dyno again before I go on tour.
