how close is it to the fender? our rear suspension is the swing arm type where the wheel will swing to the back... so, if there's clearence between the wheel to the fender, the gap will always be there... what IG can do is to remove the rear spring, which is pretty easy to do... and using a jack, placing it under the tyre, push the tyre all the way to the stopper... if it clears the fender, no issue... pretty sure Leon can do this... those of u who are worried it may clear other but not clear yours, drive to Leon's place and get it confirmed...

Looks like another boo boo!

You know it's not gonna fit your car perfectly when it's aftermarket, you have mods to your suspension, wear and tear of your suspension etc etc.. but yes, go test it out at least you know what your tolerances are and see whether you still ok with it or not lo.

This is not gonna happen folks.

Even if I go to test it, and I am comfortable with the clearance, we cannot proceed without the numbers. I don't see that happening.

I don't see numbers for the alternative design either, so what to do?

I'm out. Gonna live with the stock rims, astronomical tyre prices, and put the money towards a respray.

ok, the rear might hit the fender. so, either;
1.you live with it; or
2. roll the fender up a little; or
3. worst case, cut the fender

during the fitment test, 10mm spacer was used. the tires (GY F1 215 45 17) almost touch the fender. but the new rims are 6 to 7mm protrude.

the front, at full turn might scrap. during the fitment test with 10mm spacer, only has 2 to 3 mm clearance.

so, if you can live with the above, the GB is still on.

during the 1st GB, it was stated in the letter that the rear might hit the fender. but it did not (at least for me). that was way we went ahead

I think depends on condition(s) of each car la. Some suspension etc still ok. Some sagging. So to each and every car, there'd be different problems.

Everyone, this is a tiring affair. I bet IG is too. We came a long way, money all paid only to suddenly have issues again. Frankly, the alternative design is not attractive. So it is with much pain that I say this... I have had enough, I can't take it anymore... I am out! :mrgreen:

if plug and play is kinda impossible in malaysia. unless using spacer or whobbly nuts or convert to 5 lugs like redd. thus the GB.

One option is to buy in the UK (they have quite a number of models that will fit plug and play, because some manufacturers can drill the lug holes to order for no extra cost, so easy to find 4x98). Can either ship here direct, and pay a fortune in taxes (think 30%+10%), tumpang container of someone migrating (have to pay UK VAT at 20%), or send to Singapore (7% GST) and go there and fit (but then you probably have to leave your old rims there la!). You can find also find 18" to fit the 20VT quite easily over there, but not recommended la, because the ride will be very harsh thanks to rubber band tyres.
