central lock button

Postby puchongbala » Tue May 01, 2012 10:07 pm

Having this issue intermittently.

Sometimes able to lock.

Sometimes it just doesn't work at all (nothing despite repeated pressings) or it just locks & the unlocks again.

Any ideas on wot could be the problem & possible solutions?

TQ in advance.

A problem that commonly plagues the coupe but one that is difficult to pinpoint. I would start by making sure your door latches are well lubricated. When it's abit 'sticky', the central locking would reject the command of locking...similar to when a door is not shut properly.

If both of your doors are shut properly when this happened, check the spring loaded switch in your boot, left side. Most time it is loose after repeated use and needs minor adjustments.

try taking out the fuses/relays underneath the drivers side near the hood release for few seconds then put them back in, it resets the central locking, worked for mine.

There is a open/close sensor inside the door lock mechanism. When door is closed, the sensor wire (white color)short to (-), maybe you need to clean/service this, because sometimes door is closed but sensor says opened, so central lock unlocks again.

I am still manually locking my door for both passenger and me :? since my central locking went nuts.

Haven't got the time to troubleshoot and most mechanic are lazy to troubleshoot. They just says, change #-o

Anyway, i already have a pair of central locking sets i bought new from Torino and yet to install. And this is my seconds set. And still the problem comes after a few years.

Perhaps it could be contacts issue. Have to dig coupe manual diagram and see how to remove the lock.

Its not the lock itself. Its the solenoid that actuates the locks.
