Spare parts shortage would probably be an issue 10-15 years down the road... by then, you'll be driving the latest all new year 2020 Fiat Coupe Type R! :)

dude, if u are thinking so much about rational things like spare parts availability lah, spare parts prices lah.... then might as well don't get a Coupe.
Buying a coupe is all about an emotional purchase... You want rational purchase, get a Honduh or a Toyota

Try to source from Lancia or Alfa since the above post carries a clue :salut:

Interesting topic, thinking about it now in year 2012 end. 11 years down the road, it's getting harder and surprising it's not the wear and tear that's hard to get, but the aesthetics! :?
The worry and frustration does gets to u sometimes but with good camaraderie with coupe owners, it's still bearable. but I will admit, owning old cars will screw up your mind, er I mean mould your thinking...satu macam...

My 1968 model Fiat coupe series spare parts are still available now, 40yrs old . With Internet, you can buy from anywhere. I just bought used acond compressor for about Rm300 (excl shipping) from UK.
Worse case scenario, a part is really extinct, find the closest match & modify to fit. A good machine shop can do anything.
So a 2000 coupe should still see parts in 2040. By then you can convert to Mr Fusion reactor & Hoverconversion for USD399,999,95 :)

Proton Gen 2, I mean Junk 2 even better.
More unreliable, expensive parts & repair bills means more scrap cars to salvage parts from.

But seriously, Fiat & Alfa are the same group.
Is the 5-cylinder engine unique to the Coupe?
Will Coupe owners face similar parts problems as owners of boxer-engined Alfas in the near future?

With a weak economic forecast, car companies will reduce all costs to safeguard cash...it's inevitable. Furthermore the quantity of coupes and for example Alfa gta are limited. But at least before they destroy these amazing part, wished they would sell if to those who might want it...

They pay a lot of money to destroy those parts, they let workers driling hole,s in the cilinderheads, en cutting of edges from the eninge hoods , so they can,t be used anny more, even the tools for making the parts are destroyed, the factory turn the back on the people who spend a lot of money an love in there cars to keep them on the road. they did everything to avoid parts getting on the market.

At the moment, yes, there are some parts that are getting scarce.. But I do believe that a few years down the line when the coupe starts getting classic status, some OE manufacturers would start production of these parts that are presently not available.
