One of the hammerheads looks interesting. Wonder if it's worth the money it's asking for.

I know. My dad used to own 3 131's previously. I remembered how he had to get the car done up every year due to the rust. And the fact that he worked at Port Klang even made the rust worse.

The car is somewhere in Malacca. I called the chap this morning. Looks like I might take a drive down one of these days to take a closer look at it.

Cheers!

my dad 131's still tough what..actually his 131 is the earlier 131 which not using steel from soviet...

like my dad he bought this 131s and change all parts to supermirafiori..he even put the 131racing/sport front spoiler & tyre arch...the car used to have the 131racing rear spoiler but damn "mat rempit" hit the car at back and broke the spoiler...now donno where to buy the spoiler... :(

better u buy fiat 131s and then put all the supermirafiori parts like my dads car...

60k for a not so original Italian? This guy has gotta be kidding! He ends up keeping it as a rust bucket coz no one from where he is is ever gonna buy it at that kinda price.

seems to be a dealer of sorts not from owner,
also seems to be just "restored", looks like a dubious resto job too.

Call and ask.

It looks pretty neat but not sure how well a resto job done there though.

yah looks good huh? but why spray the trim black.......ive seen this done before to other cars, and to a fiat 850 spyder at taman desa..... :roll

back to the 600, i wonder what it was like before the 'restoration' and i wonder if the brakes/clutch/cooling system etc and underside reflect this 'restoration' ?

its hard to be upbeat about these mudah cars, and i get a feeling that some new excited owner will be grinding to a halt in a few months time in a cloud of steam and a pool of brake fluid......and with more damage done to the older fiats reputation.

the thing is, to sell a properly restored fiat 600d, with the work involved and the import of parts needed to make it truly restored and reliable, they would be priced around the 35k mark (cheap for a perfect condition 40+ year old car), but who in malaysia would pay that?....

if for one moment i thought it was viable id import all the panels etc needed and do say, 10.

Dave, I guess in this country there are two type of people - one who just buys and restore half heartedly, and like you who goes all out to do a proper resto job.

IMHO, if one is to embark onto classic resto job then he has to have passion to do so. Otherwise, it's not done right and the whole car is screwed up.

Money is also important if one want to go into classics. No money or not willing to spend money - then better leave them classics to those who have and willing to spend to bring these lovely classics back to life.

I love classics but honestly cannot afford to own one just yet so I am staying away from them till I know I can really afford one. As for now I will just admire them from afar.

If you are a petrolhead, you MUST have a classic car, they have character
much much more appeal than any modern car, if I drive a classic,
I get numerous thumbs up and waves and hoots but when I drive my newer car almost no one gives you a 2nd look.

True.

Most people like to take a second look at classics because they hardly see any around.

Was thinking of foregoing the idea of buying the 168 Super and buy a classic instead.

bravo, theres no need to be downhearted, anyone can restore a car properly, it just takes time and patience, with the little fiats, its not the money, your lucky here in MY to have a good choice of cars, and with some detective work, parts are here too.......

for a starter classic, an 850 or 600D is a great choice, easy to work on, with engine out a one man job with just a trolly jack and a few spanners and sockets..... and attention to detail regarding the brakes and cooling systems..... an 850 is easy to upgrade with coupe parts...all bolt in with no problem.....some 850 parts even bolt right in to a 600D too.

an 850 or 600D is also cheap enough to buy and leave on the porch as you slowly work on it and gather knowledge and parts.... you will end up with a nice car, and it will be way above whats usually offered for sale here locally, just dont listen to people who say heavy steering is normal, crap brakes are normal, over heating is normal, hard starting is normal.....all these people have no idea how good these cars were when either new or well maintained.

and in the 600D's case, a passable copy of an abarth is easily attainable too :) (the 850 coupe an berlina were abarthised too, but the parts they used are expensive/unavailible)

Not the right time yet Dave.

I live in an apartment so space is really a big concern.

Wait till I move into a house and I might probably do what you're doing now........or could I just park my classic at your place? Hehehe.....

Anyone seen a orange 131S reg no. JAN 3754 around JB, used to be my relatives car, it's the 4 h/ light version with T-type tailights , with wheel arches, cromodora rims,
this car was the last to be assembled but it's an old model, I think assembled circa 82-83 but year model b4 1980.
My relative worked as an engineer at Fiat Assemblers in JB and bought the car at staff price new.
I used the car a few times when in JB.

Pretty badly rusted, plus seats not ori. ,if a few hundred or max 1k can consider. but it is a late model 1968.
This might cost easily 20k to do up.

Can somebody please save this car?

It's sad to see that it's just sitting like that.

That X1/9 is anything but original condition. That originally should be a 1.3 4 speed by just the dash design and the engine cover, which would mean it maybe registered in 1981 but the year of manufacture will be below 1979 as they ceased the 1.3 and came out with the 1.5 5 speed late 1979 and stayed that configuration till the end of its production in Fiat as well as Bertone. They never manufactured a 1.6 version from factory. Other then that could be a good little project car and build something special.

No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.

I came across this ad for a Fiat 124 Sports Coupe. It looks great.

The car is in Sarawak. If you're serious in getting this one, best to go there and view the car yourself. Hassle is to bring the car back in one piece without dents and scratches.
