Bella's New Shoes

Postby bravosx » Thu Feb 04, 2010 3:50 pm

I was out an about in Klang when I decided to pop over to Leong Seng in Kapar to have a look at their range of rims.

Initially settled for some BBS replica but funnily it couldn't clear my rear brake calipers. Most probably due to a wrong offset.

So I settled for this set of ADR 17inch wheels. I am happy for now but I know I would wanna get a proper PCD98 rims.

Dude, the shop name is Leong Seng Tyres in Jalan Kapar. They are located just across the road from Klang TY used car ( this guy sells lots of AR's ). To be more exact, this shop is located opposite the new kedai papan.

I don't think the BBS replicas would fit the 155 too. It couldn't fit mine as it didn't clear the rear calipers not unless you use spacers I guess.

I reckon the ADR's I just purchased would be able to solve that problem.

The thing is that it is a PCD100/114.3 rims. So you need to get them holes rebored to 98 and also get the hubcentric center cones. These are additional charges if you are willing to bear.

They come in different designs and colors as well.

Now that you brought up the issue on the stock lugs, I think it's better to double check...........hehe.

We don't want to find our rims going faster than the car do we?

- if its rebored from pcd98 to pcd 100 , the bolts will no longer
center in the bores for the rims ....

- sorry. You meant that the rims are 4 x 100.

- and then they bored a new set of 4 holes which are 98.

- so now , your rim which originally got 4 holes , now got 8 holes ?

The machine shop will bore on the PCD 100 hole to make it 98. You eventually find each of the four holes will look like a number 8.

I dunno how they claim this to be "safe". I have not done it on my new set of wheels though but I know some of us have gone this way.

Maybe should start a new group buy to convert pcd 100 rims and make spacer.

But I doubt adding spacer (reasonable thickness) with hubcentric will be unstable as it is quite common modification on other brand too.

get a PCD adapter spacer.. ie bolt in lug out... max out only min 15mm to max at 20mm

easier...

no issue for Fiat Coupe to clear the brembo... but for Bravo, then do need proper offset for wheel arch clearance.

Otherwise..... i can get PCD98 wheels from local manufacturer of course through Group buy.. RM1800 only. interested?

and within 2 weeks i will get my PCD98 wheels for trial run testing...

For Bravo and relatively any other Fiat models except the Coop, I think maximum offset is about 35-38. Anything more than that, even the standard caliper clearance would be an issue. The BBS replica I tested before I settled for the ADR was 40. It couldn't clear the rear calipers without the use of spacers. I didn't want to use spacers as I would need to use longer bolts then.

Nahar, rim apa brand PCD 98?

i didn't want the machine bore.. prefer to grin bit by bit until it sits perfect wt stock lugs, of coz by a pair of trusted hands..my oldschool tire guy is willing to do it.. not sure how to explain la..

its a longer process, where a lot of marking, put and take out rims many times etc.. etc.. but im more confident wt this method. feel very tight no need any spacer, just cntre cone ring. . car can fly .. no vibrations watsoever..

better not to switch wheels around....

Problem is the bangla was making good money this morning as there were so many cars sent in for washing. I had no time to wait so I decided to wash myself only to find that it was a pain to wash them rims alone.

Different people have different taste and opinions. I chose that design as it looked almost the same like the BBS and never had the thought that I would have to wash them as I normally send the Bella in to the car wash. Nevertheless I still prefer the telephone dial rims. No doubt that I would revert to them if there's a set of 17's for sale. I know a guy who has a set but he's not ready to sell them - yet!
